About us

Thank you for your interest in LEAPS & BOUNDS LEARNING CENTER.

The parent handbook and enrollment agreement that follow are designed to provide you with an overview of our programs, policies, rules and parental requirements concerning enrollment.

Please read this Handbook thoroughly, as it covers very important policies and procedures that not only govern our childcare contract agreement, but also pertain to the care of your child. If you have any questions regarding the policies, please do not hesitate to ask. All families will sign a new contract each year. Leaps & Bounds Learning Center reserves the right to make and implement changes to the policies and procedures, as deemed necessary. You will be notified, in writing, of any changes that may occur.

CENTER PHILOSOPHY

We believe that the parent's role in the development of the child must be supported and reinforced through the center’s programs.

We believe that there are certain basic values such as; honesty, integrity, truthfulness, caring, concern, independence, and self-esteem, which must become a part of the child if he/she is to function as a responsible citizen in our society. We believe that children must be encouraged to express their feelings. The parent’s support of these philosophies is a vital part of children's growth. Our programs provides for emotional, social, physical, and academic growth and development of the young child. Our Pre-kindergarten has self-selected and planned activities as well as opportunities for individual and group activities. This program will provide your child with the academics and the confidence to begin his/her future education.

  • ENROLLMENT

At the time of application, parents should plan to meet with the centers director or Assistant Director one week prior to the starting date for the purpose of discussing the child's schedule. Upon enrollment each toddler will be issued 1 (one) cot with his/her name on it. Parent will supply a pillow, a crib sheet and blanket. Bedding is to be taken home on Fridays to be laundered.

Due to the limited space available, a non refundable deposit of one week’s fee is required upon application. This deposit will guarantee your space as requested in this application and will be applied to the first week of care at Leaps & Bounds. A two (2) week notice of withdraw from the program is required in writing for children 2 years and older. A four (4) week notice of withdraw from the program is required in writing for children under 2 years. If you do not provide proper written notice, current care fees will be assessed to your account for collection.

    BEHAVIOR - KEEPING YOUR COOL

Learning self control is just a normal part of growing up, so Leaps & Bounds policy is to never ridicule or embarrass a child when he/she misbehaves. Nor do we allow the use of corporal or physical punishment. Instead we utilize positive reinforcement that strengthens the self-esteem of children. Most situations can be handled by the use of "positive redirection". This approach is redirecting the child's focus from the situation to another activity more appropriate at that time. On certain occasions we utilize an approach called "time out". This approach gives the child time to think about their actions before coming back to the group’s activity.

    OUTSIDE PLAY

At Leaps & Bounds, outside play is just as important to learning as indoor learning. Our playground is one of the largest in the area. The yards are divided for age group diversity and individuality. Slides, play gyms, swings and open space for a multitude of fresh air and varied learning activities.

    HEALTH & HYGENE:

The child's immunization chart, medical inventory and emergency procedure card must be on file upon starting date. These records may not be more than one month prior to start date. Immunizations MUST be up-dated as they are received. All medical changes must be discussed with the center.

Any medication administrated to the child at the center, both prescription and over the counter must have a written note with directions from the parent or physician and in the original prescribed or factory packaged container.

    ALLERGIES

To assure that we at Leaps & Bounds are doing our best to care for your child, we ask that you alert the Center Director of any allergy problems he or she may have. Doing so will allow us to be proactive in the care and feeding of your child. This information will be placed in your child’s file for reference if needed. Due to the increase in peanut allergies, we do not permit any peanut butter in our infants rooms with children 12months and under.

    CENTER SECURITY

Our 2 entrance doors have secure combination locks for the safety of our children but a convenience for our families. Please obtain the 3 digit combination from the Director or Asst. Director to allow you ease of access to the center during the daytime. You may pass this combination to any authorized person dropping off or picking up your children. The code will be changed on or about every 6 months for safety reasons. For security purposes, please sign in at the administrative office when accessing the center during the daytime. Also, for our center security all parents are issued a key fob which is assigned to their child and they must swipe to enter the building. This electronically tracks each child's attendance in addition to our sign in and our book parents are required to fill out each day.
