INFANT PROGRAM

ONLY FULL-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN THE INFANT ROOM

Although the first five years of childhood are the most important, the infant time is most significant. We encourage babies to communicate by playing games like peek-a-boo and Pat-a-cake. Through holding, singing and talking to your child, we give individualized attention that aids in the development of language and learning. We require that your baby be at least 6 weeks of age the start day of the program.

PROGRAM The infant room ratio is 3 infants to a designated staff member. The program will provide for the children to be held, played with, talked to and given the opportunity to sit, crawl, toddle, or walk. The infant will also be provided with outdoor activities twice a day, weather permitting.

Safety approved cribs, tables, strollers, diapering table, and rockers are provided. A wide range of toys and activities are provided to enhance growth and development.
A feeding and napping schedule provided by the parent or developed specifically for your child will be posted and up-dated daily. A short note will be sent home highlighting your child's day. Parents are encouraged to reply with any questions or concerns as necessary. Parent/staff member communication is an important part of the program and highly encouraged.

The maximum size of the classroom is 20 children. Staffing includes an instructor with a B.S. degree, accompanied by an approved aid when the class size exceeds 15 students. ADMISSION POLICY

When openings are available in the Leaps & Bounds Pre-k program, they are first offered to children currently enrolled in Leaps & Bounds. Students may be placed on a waiting list prior to April 1st.

THE DAILY SCHEDULE

The schedule for the Pre-Kindergarten program is 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children are required to be in the classroom and ready to begin or they will be marked late.

PROGRESS REPORT

Your child will receive a pre-k progress report in the fall and spring. A conference will be scheduled with your child’s teacher to review their progress report. If at anytime you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, you may speak with the teacher to schedule a conference.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN AND REMAINDER OF THE DAY DAYCARE

Leaps & Bounds requires that an up to date vaccination form be submitted to the center prior to your child's start date. The following list will assist in obtaining the correct information from your Doctor.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM ONLY

Children attending morning pre-k only, shall be at the center by 8:55a.m. Children must be picked-up at 11:30 unless otherwise arranged with the office or a late charge will be due (see late charges). These children will attend the program only on the scheduled classroom days (1 80 days) listed on the school year schedule unless otherwise arranged by the office.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Most of our children in our pre-kindergarten program will proceed to local county schools. We have our van to transport children to several of the elementary school in the 21234/21236 zip codes. Leaps & Bounds does not follow all of Baltimore County School closings. Our program has 3 options to meet the various needs of parents. Should you need care on regularly scheduled school closings and have not signed up for that option, you must give the center notice in advance in writing. Going to elementary school with their friends at the center, helps decrease apprehension and allows for a smooth transition. If you choose to take your child out during summer break, you will be required to notify the center in writing and place a deposit by June 1st to guarantee a spot in the fall.

THE DAILY SCHEDULE

Children who would like to be served breakfast at the center before going to school will need to arrive by 7:45 a.m. All others will need to be at the center by 8:15 a.m. In the afternoon, the van will bring all children back to the center between 4:00 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.

PROGRAMS

Before and After Care School Days Only

This program provides transportation to and from school, and supervises the children during normal center hours prior to and after the van picks them up from school. When schools are closed, these children should not come to the center unless the center has been notified in advance and the applicable daily fee is paid. Please see rate sheet for additional fee.

Before or After Care School Days Only

This program provides transportation to or from school, and supervises the children during normal center hours prior to and/or after the van picks them up from school. When schools are closed, these children should not come to Leaps & Bounds unless the center has been notified in advance and the applicable daily fee is paid. Please see rate sheet for additional fee.

Before and After Care – Full Day Care on Non-School Days

We understand many parents need care when schools are closed, either expected or unexpectedly. This additional monthly fee is in conjunction with the normal monthly cost of before and/or after care, however, it covers ALL days when schools are closed during the school year and we are open. Please see the list of holidays for our regular closed days. This would include schools being closed for inclement weather where the center is open, and includes winter and spring break.

PLEASE NOTE:

This option must be chosen at the beginning of the school year and cannot be canceled until the school year has ended.
